Quality pressure vessel tank heads since 1969.
That’s right. We’ve been manufacturing tank heads for pressure vessels for more than half a century. And the future is as bright as our history is rich.
In 1969 John W. Trepp, Sr, sold the heat exchanger company he had started with partners and was ready for a new challenge. With an engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma, John had the expertise and know how to implement various sizes and tolerances of tanks heads. But starting a business that would flourish to what we are today takes more than expertise. It takes dedication and commitment to the business and the people on the team to be successful.
John literally went door to door to build the business locally, regionally and now internationally.
The business flourished and by 1977 we moved to our current facility on State Highway 66.
When John passed away in 1994 he had created a business model that would continue to grow and flourish without him, under the leadership of his sons, Wally, Tom, and Rob. It is an impressive legacy. In 2018, Rob passed away and Wally and Tom continued running the business until it became part of the Conrex Group of Companies.
People. That’s what makes us great for your business.
Think of the most successful businesses in the world and you’ll notice some common threads. The most common of these, we believe, is loyalty. Loyal customers. Loyal people.
It’s a remarkable thing when you can create a culture where people enjoy coming to work and creating success together, and that is the foundation for nurturing customers that want to hang around just as much.
We have employees who have been with us close to 30 years. That’s three decades of know-how you just can’t find everywhere. And that know-how goes into every product we make.
So, it’s not surprising that our top three customers have been with us over 40 years. That’s EACH by the way, not collectively. 40 plus years of loyalty. Imagine that. We must be doing a lot of things right.
Here’s what we do
At our facilities in Tulsa, Oklahoma, our hydraulic presses hot form steel discs into tank heads up to 8 feet in diameter, of thickness from 1/4" to 6" (depending on the size).
The discs are cut first from large plates of steel into precise circles by automatically-controlled torches. They are placed in furnaces and heated above 1650 degrees Fahrenheit - two thirds of an hour per inch of thickness.
Now above the normalizing range, the discs are ready to be moved to a press where they are formed to the customer's specifications.
Following cooling and any required heat-treat, all heads are properly cleaned, and the edges are prepared to provide an ideal welding surface.
